Old Blue Eyes
The eyes are the windows to the soul, or so it has been said. Perserverance through adversity brings a kind of special wisdom that cannot be equaled by “book learning” without experience. While others imagine themselves equipped to give people advice based on their opinions, the ones who have paid for their own continuance with blood, sweat and tears of sacrifice, are not concerned with glamour or awards. They simply are themselves, and that is more than enough.
“Old Blue Eyes” was depicted in oil pastel on pastel paper with a high grit to provide the work with an over-tone that suggests the difficulty this old person has endured because of his eyes which have made him an outcast among most people.
